COMMISSION PROCESS
STEP 1: CHOOSING A REFERENCE PHOTO
One of the first steps in the portrait process is finding a good reference photo.
The best photos are the ones where your pet looks most relaxed. Good resolution and lighting is also very important. Please make sure the photos are not blurry or overexposed.
Please feel free to send me more than one image, it’s very useful to have a few to work from but do let me know if you have a preferred photograph.
If you have photos of your pet but you are not sure if they're good enough, just send them to me (to alice.whiteportraits@gmail.com) and I’ll be happy to look at them and let you know if the resolution and detail on them is enough for me to work with.
STEP 2: CHOOSING SIZE AND MEDIUM
I draw on white paper with either graphite pencil or a mix of Faber Castell PolyChromos & Caran D’ache Luminance pencils. You will have a size choice of A4, A3 and A2. See my prices section for details.
STEP 3: FRAMING (OPTIONAL)
You can choose to have your commissioned piece framed and I will add the cost of frame to your final total. A frame will add to shipping costs.
STEP 4: ESTABLISHING FINAL COSTS AND DEPOSITS
As mentioned before, the final price of the unframed portrait will depend on the size, technique and complexity of the drawing (pencil, colour pencil, more than one subject etc.) Shipping prices (if needed) are quoted at the same time as prices of the portrait. Framing options can also be discussed and decided at this time.
When I establish the final price I will ask for a deposit. I ask for 50% of the final price of the finished unframed portrait to be transferred to my account before we start the commission. The up-front payment is necessary to secure your commission and place in line, as I work on the portraits in order of securing them.
If you have a time sensitive commission, I can be flexible if I believe it possible to complete the portrait at a faster rate. This also depends on my availability so if the portrait is for a special occasion please let me know well in advance to avoid any missed deadlines.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
In order to book you will be required to pay a deposit of 50% of your overall total. The remainder of the balance will be due when the portrait is finished before postage.
Unfortunately refunds are not accepted. Please look through my gallery to see if you are happy to proceed with a commissioned piece.
COPYRIGHT:
I own the copyright on all my drawings, please do not reproduce the drawing without permission. I hold the right to reproduce the drawing for advertising purposes, prints and greeting cards. Please let me know if this is something you expressly don’t want so we can discuss options.
Thank you so much for your support!
